I Love The Marines

The greatest response to an honest question ever:

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to
teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL REINWALD: We’re going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery,
and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That’s a bit irresponsible, isn’t it?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don’t see why, they’ll be properly supervised on the
rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don’t you admit that this is a terribly dangerous
activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don’t see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle
discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you’re equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma’am, you’re equipped to be a prostitute, but
you’re not one, are you?

Hehe…

I’ve noticed that “disease-free” is specified in many Connecticut personal ads.  And people like George Brown wonder why I have no Connecticut pride…

A Request

Posted in Today at 09:55 am by Josh

Is there anyone out there with the talent and, more importantly, the time to help me design a better look for this website?  I don’t know diddly about style sheets and as nice and versatile as Wordpress is with its whole “upload the theme and click” option, I really don’t care for these themes that, in my humble opinion, waste a TON of space.  Look at the borders on this thing!  I see no sense in creating larger monitors if we are going to use less of the screen…Help me stretch out the site’s borders (and maybe put in a decent color scheme!).  Thanks, kids.

Caffeine and Scapegoats

Posted in Today at 08:38 am by Josh

So I don’t have a job.  This isn’t as bad as it seems but it will be in a couple of weeks when I don’t have any money to pay rent.  I’ve been looking for something I can do while attempting to support my urge to be an artist and I’ve come up…well…a little short.  Don’t listen the the analysts on TV; the job market stinks.  Having a bachelor’s degree has not exactly done for me all of the wonderful magic my high school guidance counselor suggested it would.  For want of a scapegoat, I’m going to blame her for my current situation.

The good news is that I can make coffee and drink the whole pot.  I’m going to go do that now.  Wait an hour and then please come stop me from bouncing off the walls…

I love this picture of the cannon on Pirates Weekend!  I must have taken at least 20 shots to get this one.  Too bad that silly bucket is there…(Photoshop anyone?)

Unemployment and Chateau St. Jean

Posted in Today, Random Thoughts at 18:33 pm by Josh

Now that I’m officially unemployed, I think that I’m going to wait in the bushes for the mailman on Monday and when he comes up the stairs, I’m going to hit him the knees with a rolling pin, twist his arm behind his back while crouching on his spine and ask him very nicely to keep my mail from getting wet in the future.  I think I’ll also has him to take note that the women’s magazines do not, in fact, belong to me but the woman on the first floor who has lived here for YEARS.

In addition, I want everyone to recognize that the foil on a bottle of Chateau St. Jean is not, in fact, foil, but it is a very thin piece of actual metal, impossible to smoothly cut with a knife.  Be prepared to poke, prod, and cut your finger in the process.

Have a nice weekend.

Mayor *Expletive Deleted* Nagin

Posted in Political Commentary, News, New York City at 09:03 am by Josh

I never liked Mayor Nagin of New Orleans but this time he’s gone too far.  The debris surrounding that “hole” in the ground was cleaned up a LONG time ago.  What business of his is it to criticize how the city chooses to fill that void?  No one was criticizing his rebuilding efforts.  They were criticizing his inability to get to the rebuilding stage.  And, Mr. Nagin, I can’t help but notice after having been to New Orleans in April that the more well-off areas were looking mighty spiffy in comparison to the now-infamous Ninth Ward…are we getting a little defensive to avoid looking like a typical politician?
