Oblivious
I always say that I’ve never seen any famous people just casually walking around since I’ve lived in New York City. Alissa insists that I just haven’t been paying attention. Until today, I disagreed with her.
As we left church en route to some tasty Swedish meatballs, Alissa turns and says my name rather forcefully as though I’m dim-witted. I reply accordingly (”Huh?”) and she says, “Didn’t you see who that was?” “Who?” I ask. “Claire Danes just walked right past you.” “What?” You can figure the rest of the conversation from there. So we marvel for a few minutes at my stupidity (and disappointment as I think that Claire Danes is muy cute) and while we’re sitting at the restaurant some fifteen minutes later, chatting about famous people again, Todd interrupts himself by saying, “And Josh, you want to look to you left now…now…now“. Someone is walking by with a stroller and a dog. She’s very attractive. She looks familiar. I can’t quite place her. “Um, who was that?” (snickers) “Liv Tyler.” “Damnit, that’s what I thought!”
So there you have it. Two celebrities, two beautiful female celebrities, and all I could think about were Swedish meatballs *sigh*.

I’m surprised, hahaha…you and Todd used to drool over Aerosmith’s video (”Cryin”?) with Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler.
Enjoy the city. I always thought it would be the coolest thing to live there.
Love you.

Some points of clarification: 1) My sister is referring to my brother Todd whereas I was referring to my Brother Todd. Confusing as that may still seem, I assure you they are not the same person. 2) It was must less drool and much more staring wide-eyed and drop-jawed. Yes, I confess, I found the female duo rather tantalizing at the ripe old age of 11. And I believe the video was “Crazy”

Nice! A bunch of us — including the Andreadeses and their kids — saw Liv on the sidewalk of W 11th Street on a Sunday afternoon after The Village Church got out. Lord of the Rings had just wrapped up with its third movie a month or two before, so the kids were still running around church in capes with their wooden swords. It was a sort of magical moment for all of us — except for Liv, who pushed her stroller looking terrified at her sudden loss of anonymity.

Smorgas meatballs, celebrities sightings, and a chance to poke fun at Josh — why oh why didn’t I go to brunch with y’all?

[…] It was a quiet weekend. After church, some friends and I ventured to Smorgas Chef for meatballs, mimosas, and some of the finest looking waitstaff the West Village has to offer. It was a fun-filled time, with much laughter and lingonberry. And, as far as I know, there were no celebrity sightings this time. […]
